Insurance Check vs. Hiring a Lawyer

Don't settle for less than you deserve. Understand the true value of your case before accepting a quick insurance payout.

Why Hire Our Personal Injury Lawyers?

After a serious injury, you deserve more than a quick settlement. You need trial lawyers who fight for everything you're owed.

    Real Trial Lawyers

Most personal injury firms never see the inside of a courtroom. Our trial lawyers go to court — and win. Insurance companies know we fight and they pay maximum compensation because of it.

    Hundreds of Millions Won

Over 40 years and hundreds of millions of dollars recovered for injury victims and across the Southeast. Our track record speaks for itself — we get results that matter.

    Available 24/7

Accidents don't happen on a schedule. Our team answers calls around the clock, starts your case immediately, and keeps you informed every step of the way. You are never alone in this process.

    No Fee Unless We Win

You pay absolutely nothing unless we recover compensation for you. No upfront costs. No hidden fees. No financial risk. We only get paid when you get paid — that is our promise.

For over 40 years, Howe.Law Injury & Accident Lawyers has been protecting personal injury victims from lowball insurance settlements across Georgia, Tennessee, and Mississippi. We are not a settlement factory. We are trial lawyers who take cases to court when insurance companies refuse to pay the true value of your claim. Before you sign away your rights or accept a quick check, call us—consultations are free, and we charge no fee unless we win.

Don't Accept the First Settlement Offer

The first offer is not random. It is not the adjuster's best guess at what your case is worth. It is the lowest number their internal software predicts you will accept — calculated against decades of data on what unrepresented claimants take when they are tired, hurt, and want this to be over.

The number is designed to feel reasonable. That is the point.

What your offer is really based on

Insurance companies have spent decades collecting data on injury cases — yours and millions like yours. They know what a herniated disc settles for in Georgia, Tennessee or Mississippi. They know what a torn rotator cuff is worth when there is six weeks of lost wages attached. They know what a soft-tissue claim with no surgery typically nets when the claimant has a lawyer versus when they do not.

They are not estimating. They are calculating.

The offer on your kitchen table is what their software says you will accept — not what your case is worth. The gap between those two numbers is where the firm you hire makes its money, and where you either gain or lose tens of thousands of dollars.

The math most people get wrong

Most people deciding whether to hire a lawyer run this calculation in their head:

"If they offered me $25,000 and a lawyer takes a third, I'd net $16,750. Why would I hire someone to take a third of my money?"

That math assumes the recovery stays at $25,000. It never does.

Here is what actually happens. The $25,000 first offer becomes an $87,500 recovery — not always, not in every case, but consistently across the cases we take. After our fee, after case expenses, after medical lien negotiation, you net somewhere around $45,000.

You did not lose money to a lawyer. You gained $20,000 by hiring one.

If we cannot do better than the offer on your table, we will tell you. You will not get a bill. You will not owe us anything. That is the deal.

What the adjuster did not tell you

The person who called you with that offer is professional. They were probably pleasant. And they almost certainly did not tell you:

    • The first offer is rarely their best offer. Adjusters are trained to anchor low. Internal benchmarks track how much money the company saves on claims where the first offer is accepted versus negotiated. You are part of that data.
    • Accepting their check means signing a release. Once you sign, the case is over. If your injury turns out to be more serious six months from now — chronic pain that does not go away, a surgery you did not know you needed, ongoing physical therapy — you cannot reopen the claim. The release ends it permanently.
    • They know what your case is worth. They have the software, the comparable case data, and the institutional memory. They know the range. The offer they made you is the low end of that range, not the middle and not the top.
    • They do not work for you. The adjuster's job is to close the file at the lowest defensible cost to the company. That is not a criticism of the adjuster — it is the literal description of their job. Their interests and your interests are not aligned. Yours and ours are.

    What we actually do

We do not just send demand letters and hope. When we take a case:

    1. 1We investigate. We send investigators to the scene. We pull surveillance footage before it gets overwritten. We interview witnesses before they move or forget. We obtain the police report, the 911 audio, the dispatch records.
    2. 2We document the full picture. Your medical bills are only part of the case. We document lost wages, future earning capacity, pain and suffering, the impact on your family, the cost of treatment you have not had yet. Insurance companies are counting on you not knowing what to ask for. We know.
    3. 3We negotiate with leverage. Insurance adjusters track which law firms actually file suit and which ones settle for whatever is offered. We are on the list of firms they pay more to avoid going to court against. That reputation is worth real money to our clients.
    4. 4We try cases when we have to. Most personal injury firms have never seen the inside of a courtroom. We have, hundreds of times, across Georgia, Tennessee, and Mississippi. When an insurance company refuses to make a fair offer, we file. They know we will. That is why the offers improve.

When we'll tell you not to hire us

If you came to a personal injury website expecting to be sold no matter what, this section will surprise you.

Some cases should not have a lawyer. If your accident was very minor, if there was no real injury, if no medical treatment was needed, if you weren't out of work — sometimes the insurance offer is close enough to fair that hiring a lawyer doesn't put more in your pocket.

When we see those cases, we say so. The 15-minute call is free either way. You leave with an honest answer.

But if your case involves real injury, real medical bills, real time off work, or any uncertainty about what your future looks like — you owe it to yourself to know what we could recover before you sign anything.

Before you sign anything, give us 15 minutes. The call costs you nothing. If your offer is genuinely fair, we will tell you to take it. If it is not — and it almost never is — you will know what your case is actually worth before you make a decision you cannot undo.

The Check Is on Your Kitchen Table.
The Pen Is Next to It.

    Before you sign, call us.
